Jonathan Djanogly joins calls for CCG to follow guidelines on IVF

4th December 2020

Jonathan Djanogly joins Cambridgeshire and Peterborough MPs to call on the CCG to end the blanket restrictions for IVF and follow Government guidelines.

According to the guidelines, women aged under 40 should be offered three cycles of IVF treatment on the NHS if they have been trying to get pregnant for two years or have not been able to get pregnant after 12 cycles of artificial insemination. Provision of NHS fertility treatment is decided at a local level by Clinical Commissioning Groups but the Government has made it clear that blanket restrictions are unacceptable and all decisions on treatment should be made by doctors based on a patient's individual clinical needs and in line with NICE guidelines. Cambridgeshire & Peterborough is one of only three areas in the country still operating blanket restrictions and I have therefore joined my fellow Cambridgeshire & Peterborough MPs in writing to our Clinical Commissioning Group to reiterate these commissioning and treatment guidelines.
