Jonathan Djanogly MP welcomes NHS commitment to maintain services at Hinchingbrooke Hospital
22nd July 2016
Jonathan Djanogly has welcomed the announcement that the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group plans to retain both maternity and 24/7 urgent care services at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
Setting out its future plans in the ‘Fit for the Future’ document released today the Clinical Commissioning Group has given a firm commitment to safe and effective hospital care and expects maternity and 24/7 urgent care services to remain at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
Jonathan Djanogly commented:
“My campaign on Hinchingbrooke Hospital has very much focused on doing everything we can to ensure that services are protected and strengthened at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Hundreds of people marching through Huntingdon in support of Hinchingbrooke has shown the strength of feeling on this issue, and in presenting a petition of 6,500 people to 10 Downing Street I made the case for our hospital at the very highest levels of Government. I am therefore delighted that the Clinical Commissioning Group has listened to local concerns and committed to protecting these two vital services. There is more to do in preventing the merger but we should welcome today’s announcement as a success for the campaign to save Hinchingbrooke.”
